Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies have pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges tied to an incarcerated cryptocurrency entrepreneur known as 'The Godfather.' David Rodriguez, a 43-year-old LASD deputy, admitted to running an illegal scheme with Adam Iza, a 24-year-old crypto businessman. Iza's platform, Zort, was allegedly used to funnel illicit payments to law enforcement.

Rodriguez abused his authority to conduct illegal activities for private security clients, while another deputy, Eric Chase Saavedra, faces related charges. The case highlights the intersection of cryptocurrency and institutional corruption, with the Department of Justice pursuing multiple charges, including tax evasion and wire fraud.
